Andrea Castoro appointed head of projects at First Subsea

First Subsea has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Andrea Castoro as head of projects. The Italian chartered engineer will be responsible for a team of project engineers designing and delivering Ballgrab subsea products such as diverless bend stiffener connectors, and pipeline recovery tools, to the oil and gas and marine renewable market sectors across the globe.

Andrea Castoro comes from Trapani in Sicily and has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Design from ‘La Sapienza’ University in Rome. Joining First Subsea as a project engineer 18 months ago, he has worked on a number of major projects including Ballgrab subsea mooring connectors for Perdido, the deepest spar in the Gulf of Mexico and Ocean Confidence FPSO Production Buoy. His promotion marks a wider drive to increase the company's project management capability.

In addition to managing a growing team of project engineers, Andrea Castoro will be responsible for introducing PRINCE2 Project Management methodology, as well as overseeing the implementation of ISO 14000 environment standard and ISO 18000 health and safety standard across the company.

“Andrea Castoro's promotion is in recognition of the outstanding project management skills he has demonstrated when delivering a number of important projects. In heading up our project team he will be joining a First Subsea management team committed to continuous business improvement, particularly project management and delivery,” said Brian Green, general manager, First Subsea Ltd.
